Once upon a time in London, in a park blanketed in snow, a blue box slowly faded into place near a lamp post, appearing out of nowhere. It was a police box. A man in a dark purplish coat and bow tie stepped out of the police box. He had floppy hair and a large chin. He lowered his face into his palm and said in frustration; "This is not Paris!". He turned to the box angrily.
"Oh you've done it this time. London doesn't even start with a P! How could you mess up this badly! Every time- EVERY TIME!"
This man was, of course, The Doctor. The police box was respectively the Tardis. The Doctor was about to step back into the Tardis when he heard something all too familiar, a sound he could never refuse or walk away from. He heard the sound of a crying child.
He slowly turned around and saw a little boy sitting on a bench crying. The boy looked about five or six years old. His face was pale from cold, and his nose was red and runny. His face was wet with tears. His eyes were pointed directly at the ground, and he seemed horribly disappointed with something.
"Oi you!" The Doctor called to the child. The boy looked at him curiously.
"Don't go around crying in this weather!" he said "You'll Freeze your face off!"
"Sorry sir." the boy said wiping away the tears
"So," The Doctor said as he sat next to him on the bench. "What's your name?"
  "James." The boy said.
"Ooo, James!" The Doctor remarked as he flamboyantly waved his hand in an expression of excitement (as he often does),"What a nice name. Tell me, what's today's date?"
"December 25th, sir." James said in a confused tone. "Christmas day."
"Ah." The Doctor said, "Now then, what can possibly be so bad that you're crying on Christmas morning?"
"I found out me dad is Santa Claus." The boy said.
  The Doctor stared at him for a moment, pondering what to say. The Doctor fumbled his hands around as he did when he was thinking nervously. He finally leaned closer to James and said;
"What about it? That doesn't make Santa any less real."
"What'd you mean sir?" James retorted, "Of course it does."
"Well," The Doctor began "Santa Claus is the idea of giving without wanting anything in return, or taking credit. This is what Santa Claus always will be. And if you believe in that, then of course he's real!"
James stared at The Doctor, a little confused. It was like he was still processing it, the tiny gears of his young mind were beginning to turn. Then, he smiled.
"I get what you mean." James said. "I get it now."
"And if you always believe in him, and your parents," The Doctor said warmly, "He'll never die."
  James laughed and smiled.
"Tell me James, what do you like?" The Doctor asked.
"I like to collect fob watches." He said.
"Then have I got something for you." The Doctor said. He reached into the deepest darkest corner of his coat pocket and pulled out a fob watch. A bright silver like fob watch with several symbols from different alien races carved into it, and a beautiful golden chain. James marveled at it as The Doctor explained.
"I've got a few so I don't mind giving one away." he said "It's a custom fob watch, made by the best clock makers in the universe. It's always right on time, and never breaks."
"Wow! Thank you sir!" James said.
"No problem, and merry Christmas James." The Doctor said. Just then they heard a woman's voice calling, and then a man's voice calling.
  "Mum and dad." James said.
"Run along then, you must've worried them sick!" The Doctor scolded. James ran in the direction of the calls, but turned around to face the doctor
"Wait! Who are you!?" James asked. The Doctor smirked at him.
"I'm a little bit of a Santa myself." He said. "But everybody calls me The Doctor!"
"Thank you Doctor!" James yelled. "And Merry Christmas!"
"Same to you!" The Doctor called. He watched as he ran off and met up with his parents and was embraced in their arms. They put him down and he showed them the pocket watch, and then pointed at The Doctor. He could tell James was explaining a bit of the conversation. The father looked at The Doctor and gave a wave and a gesture of thanks. The Doctor nodded and walked back to the Tardis.
He stopped as he saw Clara leaning at the doorway with a big smile on her face.
  "What?" The Doctor asked.
"You just can't help yourself can you?" Clara said.
 "No, I guess not." He agreed with a little snicker. They stepped into the Tardis, and The Doctor commented;
"Christmas is about being kind and loving, even if it's not for someone special or someone you know well. All that matters is that you be the best you can."
"Cheers to that." Clara said. The Doctor nodded and smiled for a moment.
"Now then," He said "Next stop... Everywhere!"

   The End

Merry Christmas everyone! This story is for anyone who says they woke up and saw their parents putting the presents under the tree, or don't believe for any other reason in Santa Claus. Doctor Who is property of the BBC.
I wish all of you the most merry and wonderful Christmas possible!

REALLY proud of this one. I'm a huge fan of the 11th Doctor, and I feel like I've captured his personality PERFECTLY. I'm really glad this one turned out as well as it did and I'm glad it got so much praise from the people who read it.

The way you write is perfect, it felt like I was actually watching an episode in my head!
You also got the Doctor's personality exactly right (because you are the doctor, you just don't know it yet.)

Amazing story with a really nice message.
This deserves more views.

I hope you wright more short stories like this.

I know she didn't have a big part in this, but I can't resist pointing out how awesome Clara is... Blush emoticon
